e Shram Self Registration 2024-25: Hon’ble Union Minister Bhupender Yadav of Ministry of Labour & Employment (MoLE) launched a portal named e Shram portal on August 2021 under central government of India with an objective of

• Creation of a centralized database of all unorganized workers (UWs) including Construction Workers, Migrant Workers, Gig and Platform workers, Street Vendors, Domestic Workers, Agriculture Workers, etc., to be seeded with Aadhaar.
• To improve the implementation efficiency of the social security services for the unorganized workers. (ii) Integration of Social Security Schemes meant for UWs being administered by MoLE and subsequently those run by other ministries as well.
• Sharing of information in respect of registered unorganized workers with various stakeholders such as Ministries/ Departments/ Boards/ Agencies/ Organizations of the Central & State Governments through APIs for delivery of various social security and welfare schemes being administered by them.
• Portability of the social security and welfare benefits to the migrant and construction workers.
• Providing a comprehensive database to Central and State Governments for tackling any National Crises like COVID-19 in future.

what is UAN LABOUR CARD/ e-Shram Card?

e Shram/UAN card is a 12digit number card that is generated after registration in the e Shram portal, in which complete information about the labor will be collected and stored in NDUW (National Database of Unorganized Workers). By making the UAN/e-Shram Card, every labor will get financial aid to his bank account linked with the card.

The Government of India will now have comprehensive data on the entire unorganized labor force in the country by identifying the skill level and field of each worker,. This data will enable the government to effectively implement new schemes and initiatives. Currently, there is a lack of complete information about workers in the unorganized sector. However, with the introduction of the UAN/e-Shram Card, each worker will have their account linked to the card, ensuring they receive any financial aid directly.

e-Shram Card Benefits

• Social Security: The e-Shram Card is aimed at unorganized sector workers, providing them access to various social security schemes. It acts as a central database for these workers, helping the government plan and implement welfare schemes effectively.

• Accident Insurance: Registered workers under the e-Shram portal are entitled to a Rs. 2 lakh accidental insurance cover under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).

• Ease of Registration: The registration process is simple, and workers can register themselves through CSCs (Common Service Centres) or online, ensuring wide coverage.

Who will get a UAN/e SHRAM Card?

The Government of India has decided that all the workers who come in the unorganized sector will have a UAN card. The following people who come to the workers in the unorganized sector are

• small and marginal farmers, agricultural laborers,
• street vendors, fishermen, gig and platform worker,
• people engaged in animal husbandry, bidi makers,
• Labeling and packaging, building and construction workers,
• leather work, weavers, carpenter, salt work,
• workers in brick and stone quarries, migrant workers
• Workers working in saw mills etc.

Eligibility for e Shram card

• Age should be between 16-59 years.
• Not a member of EPFO/ESIC or NPS (Govt. funded)
• Any worker who is a home based-worker, self-employed worker or a wage worker in the unorganized sector including a worker in the organized sector who is not a member of ESIC or EPFO or not a Govt. employee is called an Unorganized Worker.

How to do self Registration for e Shram card/UAN card

If you want to do self Registration follow the steps given below

• First go to the official website eshram.gov.in.
• You will get home screen of e shram portal.
• Next click on the link “Registration on e shram” at the mid right corner.
• Next you will get a new tap of self Registration form.
• Next fill your Aadhaar linked mobile number, enter captcha code, then click No and No on radio buttons and click “send OTP”.
• Next you will get an OTP on your number and a new page on screen, then enter the OTP and click “submit”.
• Next on new page enter Aadhaar number and click against “I Agree” then click on “submit”
• Next you will get another OTP on your Aadhaar linked number then enter OTP and click “validate”.
• Next you will get a new page where your Aadhaar details are shown on screen and also bank details linked with Aadhar card.
• Next click against “I agree” then click “continue to enter other details”.
• Next on new page you will get personal details section fill the required details then fill you nominee details if you want to add then click “save & continue”.
• Next you will get address section fill the required details and then click “save and continue”.
• Next you will get education qualification section fill the qualification, education certificate then click “save and continue”.
• Next you will get occupation and skill section fill the required details and then click “save and continue”.
• Next you will get Bank details section if your Aadhar is not linked to your bank accounts then fill the bank details the click “save and continue”.
• Next you will get preview self declaration section your details are shown on the screen you need to see all details carefully before submitting the form if any details are incorrect edit it.
• If all is correct click “I Agree”, you will get an OTP on your mobile enter OTP, click “verify” and then click “submit” button.
• Next you will get a new page with message of successful registration and your UAN card is shown on the screen click “download” to download a e copy.
• Next click “complete Register”.

How to download e shram card/UAN card online on e shram Portal?

If you already made your e Shram/UAN card you can download it online, to download follow the procedure given below

• First go to the official website eshram.gov.in.
• You will get home screen of official portal.
• Next at the mid right corner click on the link “Registration on e shram”.
• On next page on the top click “Already Registered” you will get dropdown then click “update/Download UAN card”.

• Next you will get a new screen fill the 12 digits UAN number, date of birth, enter captcha code and then click “Generate OTP”.
• Once done, you will get an OTP on your mobile number enter the OTP.
• Next You will get a new page with your name then click “Download UAN card”.

• You will get a new page with UAN card shown on the screen then click “Download UAN card”.
• On clicking you will get a digital copy of your UAN/e Shram card.

How to Update e shram card/UAN card online on e shram Portal?

If you already made your e Shram/UAN card you can update it online, to Update follow the procedure given below

• First go to the official website eshram.gov.in.
• You will get home screen of e shram portal.
• Next at the mid right corner click on the link “Registration on e shram”.
• Using UAN Card : On next page on the top click “Already Registered” you will get dropdown then click “update profile using UAN card”.

• Next you will get a new screen fill the 12 digits UAN number, date of birth, enter captcha code and then click “Generate OTP”. or
• Using Aadhaar Card: You can also update your e shram profile using the Aadhaar card. To update using Aadhaar card click on “Already Registered” you will get dropdown then click “update profile using Aadhar card”.
• Next you will get a new screen fill the Aadhaar number, date of birth, enter captcha code and then click “Generate OTP”.

• Once done, you will get an OTP on your mobile number enter the OTP.
• Next You will get a new page with your name then click “update”.

• You will get a new page with your details then you need to go to the section where you want to update.
• After updating click submit button.
• Next you will get preview self declaration section your details are shown on the screen you need to see all details carefully before submitting the form if any details are incorrect edit it.
• If all is correct click “I Agree”, you will get an OTP on your mobile enter OTP, click “verify” and then click “submit” button.
• Next you will get a new page with message of successful update and your UAN card is shown on the screen click “download” to download a update e-copy of UAN card.
